The Desert Orchid Hotel is a newly remodeled hotel that was built in the 1950’s. To keep the history of the building alive we preserved the original moldings on the walls and ceilings. Our clients have given us three photos to help develope the design and the function of the end product. Elements from these images were used in the space such as the curved line movements, layered and flowy fabrics. Also, keeping with similar colors used in the photos, with not many patterns. This hotel is achieving LEED Certification with many green affiliated elements.
A one hour design problem, remodeling a home from one of your favorite movies growing up. I chose the movie Enough and remodeled the kitchen, living room, and bedroom which is located in southern California. Since this was such a quick assignment I decided to go to the manufactures of furniture and finishes that I know I like and that will fit the homes style of colonial revival. Some of these companies include Restoration Hardware, Rejuvenation, Decor, Cambria, Schumacher, Brizo, and Y-Lighting.
Newly weds Howard and Tracy Redding live in the suburbs of San Francisco, California, are looking to remodel their existing kitchen. With a budget of $50,000 they are looking for a design that suits both of their wants and needs.
Howard is looking for a modern design with slick clean lines, and Tracy is wanting a kitchen with natural elements and lots of texture. They are both also wanting a smart kitchen that is east to work with.
To bring these two design wants and needs together we are using elements in design that appeals to both liking. Modern and sleek elements that are added into the design are the flat paneled cabinet doors, silver herringbone back splash that spans the entire wall. Bringing in natural elements with dark stained wood tones, and the vain movement on the solid surface counter top. Also, adding smart features from Nest, and Philips Hue.
